ABSTRACT : DESIGN FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS SUNDA STRAIT BRIDGE
Development of Jembatan Selat Sunda/ JSS (Sunda Strait Bridge) will require a design and technology differing from other bridges which have been built either in Indonesia or also in world. Many alternative designs of Sunda Strait Bridge have been proposed and the enthusiasm to realize the pride condition geographical of Indonesia, and would makes that bridge will included into group of the longest-span bridges in world. As its logical consequence, the development planning of Sunda Strait Bridge starts from feasibility study pre up to its operational and maintenance will involve the experts with commitment and high enthusiasm and requires systematic planning and directed. Besides, because its position which is close enough to Krakatau’s Mountain that is about 50 Kilo Meters and meeting point of two tectonic plates, hence the Sunda Strait Bridge will be designed as resistant to earthquake effects and tsunami. Various studies and research had been initiated since 1960s by the bridge’s expert and government. Result of the studies and research produced two alternative designs for Sunda Strait Bridge, which is the third generation hanging bridge model and cable stayed bridge. Besides those two alternative designs, also are selected two alternative locations between through north line or south line. North line passed Merak (Province of Banten) – Bakauheni (Province of Lampung), while south line through Anyer (Province of Banten) – Ketapang (Province of Lampung).In view of certain considerations and aspects in the feasibility study for the Sunda Strait Bridge, then the problem will be analyzed in this research is the technical aspects of the feasibility design of Sunda Strait Bridge.
This research will analyze qualitatively about eligibility of Sunda Strait Bridge’s design which has been proposed by the expert which covering 12 research factors; that is technology factor, geometric, structure, environment, risk, esthetics, navigation, wind, earthquake, budgeting, function and energy. The result of this research will be made as input policy for related stakeholder and recommends technical aspects about design model of Sunda Strait Bridge.
